Welcome to the Telephone Centre - UK Mobile Phones and Plans

In today's world, a mobile phone is a necessity.  With so many choices, how do you choose the right phone or service?  The Telephone Centre will help you with this decision.

What do you need to do with your mobile phone? Is it primarily for work?  Perhaps you need to be able to stay in contact with staff or colleagues.  Do you want it for personal reasons?  Perhaps you want to listen to music or surf the web.  You should select a mobile phone that fits both your needs and your wallet.

Wireless phones and options sometimes seem endless.  It's also easy to buy more phone than you really need.  When you do decide what your needs are you should keep it simple.  Although many phones now include web browsing, email, and text messaging; ask yourself if you will really use those features.   Start by doing your research online.  You can get unbiased information that tells you the pros and cons of the various phones.

Smart phones like the iPhone, Blackberry and Treo include QWERTY keyboards.  Other wireless phones can be extremely simple.  Sleek thin phones like the Motorola RAZR are popular with lots of people who don't want a full keyboard.  Many of these phones offer video and MP3 players.  Nokia and Ericcson phones are popular in the UK, but Samsung and others are catching on too.

You also need to match mobile phone to career.  Each mobile carrier may have a particular line of phones they carry.  If the carrier is important to you, then find the carrier online or visit their store and find out which phones they support. Different carriers also have different customer service policies; but Orange, O2, and T-Mobile will usually want you to commit to a contract or tariff of at least 18 months to get a free or discounted phone.  An "unlocked" phone is almost always more expensive, but allows you to use it on any compatible network.

Purchasing a new mobile phone doesn’t have to be complicated or frustrating just know what it is you want your phone to do and don’t sway from that decision.  You can buy your mobile phone locally or you can buy online for the most convenience. Many providers will activate online or by phoning a toll free number.  It’s a simple process and in no time you’ll be up and running.
